TV idea

I was watching TV last night and there was an add for "Gossip Girl" and I thought wouldn't it be great if "Gossip Girl" (which sadly I have never watched) was a remake of "L'aventura"? If you work in TV, you may steal this idea.

Even better is thinking about all the great movies they could turn into sitcoms.

"M" would make an amazing sitcom, don't you think?

I was a huge fan of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and the TV drama that in many senses followed it, Veronica Mars. When Veronica was canceled after season three and Gossip Girl took its time slot (I think), I was horrified, and remain horrified. I could be wrong though. Is there a gurlesque reading that can reclaim the total dreck of that show? I doubt it, but I'm sure I oould be wrong here, so I'm asking.

Kind of off-topic, but Mark, could you please explain to me the appeal of the Buffy The Vampire Slayer TV show? I remember seeing a few episodes here and there when I was in high school and whatnot, but I never got wind of what was so special about it.

Well, did you like X Files? Add humor to that, a broader range of intriguing characters, and a coming of age girl-centric universe with some muted mainstream feminist overtones, and that's about it. I'm a horror movie fan too, in a big way, so that helped with me. Van Helsing as Valley Girl.

It also had a running and developing story line, so catching episodes only here and there probably would sacrifice a lot of whatever level of nuance there was.
